Gate Bioscience is a venture-backed, preclinical biotech company creating a new class of medicines to selectively eliminate harmful secreted and membrane proteins. Our therapeutics, called Molecular Gates, are small molecules that work at the source, by preventing cells from secreting the disease-causing protein. By eliminating the protein at its source, Gate aims to eliminate the disease for patients. Founded in 2021, Gate is backed by Versant Ventures, a16z Bio + Health, ARCH Venture Partners, and GV. • Engage with team members to design and execute experiments
  • Exhibit strong decision-making skills by analyzing data, recognizing patterns or potential issues, and proposing actionable next steps.
Ex Vivo Collaborations
  • Work closely with our in vivo team to establish and execute ex vivo assays that assess the efficacy of therapeutic candidates.
Scientific Rigor & Innovation
  • Maintain familiarity with current literature, emerging immunology techniques, and relevant scientific advances related to assigned programs.
  • Propose innovative approaches to improve project outcomes and stay at the forefront of the field.
Scientific Communication
  • Take ownership of projects, champion new ideas, and communicate effectively to influence and align cross-functional teams.

Education and Experience:
  • PhD in Immunology, Cellular Biology, or a related field with 2+ years of experience, OR a Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience. Industry experience is preferred but not required.
  • A solid academic/industry background in Immunology or a closely related field.
  • Proven expertise in designing, running, and analyzing multicolor Flow Cytometry assays.
  • Familiarity with flow-based methods of cytokine analysis (e.g., Legend-plex).
  • Experience in isolating and culturing primary immune cells.
  • Exceptional laboratory technique and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent documentation skills, including experience with Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN).

Compensation:

Individual compensation is based on various factors, including level, experience, education, skill set, and geographic location. This salary range is for our San Francisco Bay Area, location and may be adjusted to the labor market in other geographic areas.

Target Salary Range:  $125,000 - $147,000
